LNF receives government grant to develop reliable cryogenic MMICs

Low Noise Factory together with Microwave Electronics Laboratory at Chalmers University of Technology have received a substantial grant from Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency, to develop a reliable cryogenic MMIC process. The goal with the project is to strengthen LNF’s and Chalmers’ role in Big Science applications such as the Square Kilometer Array by enhancing the value-chain between university research and commercial business. In the project we will investigate key parameters affecting the reliability of cryogenic LNAs. We will manufacture 40 pieces of LNAs and ensure they will withstand 100 temperature cycles down to 4 Kelvin ambient temperature without degradation. The project will put LNF in a unique position for future Big Science applications.
